Having nothing better to do in the CQWW VHF Contest this morning, I
started thinking about how frequency is measured and that the US is the
only country in the world that hasn't adopted the metric system.
Sooo...
In keeping with our insistence to use our own system of weights and
measures, I propose that we immediately begin referring to our ham bands
as only the US should:
6 Meters should be called the 20 Foot Band
For HF, also with some approximations, the bands should be referred to
as follows:
10 Meters becomes the 33 Foot band
15 " " " 50 Foot Band
20 " 65 Foot Band
40 " 130 Foot Band
80 " 260 Foot Band
160 " 525 Foot Band
Formulas for antenna calculations could be simplified since element
lengths for us are specified in feet and inches.
