No. Don't do it, Mike.

Take some advice from me. It's a dangerous habit of those crazy A-! ops.
By listening first, you will begin to be sucked in halfway to the A-! op
mentality.  And before you know it you will also be asking if the
frequency is in use - even when there is no one on the frequency! Who
are they talking to if no one's there?  What a bunch of idiots!

Don't join the elitist group.  Maybe you can back out before it's too
late. Or if they've already got their hooks into you, try to figure out
some way to get yourself ejected from the group.

Maybe some of our fellow SOC'ers have some ideas on how to get ejected
from A-!.
