In days of old, when knights were bold
And ladies weren't invented
The knights bored holes in telegraph poles
And walked away contented.

In days of old When the Knights were bold
And toilet lights were dim
You'd hear a crash
Then a splash OH GOD! He's fallen in!

And the original which for some reason no one ever repeats.

In days of old when Knights were bold
and honour was the fashion
there was a maid a fine young maid
whose heart was full of passion.
She fell in love with a man of wealth
a married man at that.
The wife he had was ill of health,
the son he had a brat.

Now what’s the use of honour?
when infidel is the game
and what is this persona
redundant of all shame.
The faith he had when just a lad,
now no more than a stranger.
A heart of gold, a love so sad
that now he lives for danger.

Then one grey and stormy day
he went to war for price to pay
for all the trouble and the strife
that he had caused his ill health wife.
To make amends before it’s too late
and turn around the hand of fate,
with destiny he had a date.

The maid at home while man at war,
of her daily life she did now bore,
so she played away every day
and with the brat at that,
until the time when for his crime
the wealthy man now in his prime
came home for tit for tat.

He found them lying upon his bed,
the maid and the brat, passions fed,
in the corner lay stone dead
the ill health wife who had not been fed.
His anger raged, he fired the gun,
A sudden blast his duty done,
He’d killed himself as day begun
