"Obviously you are not involved in "Amateur Radio" also known as "ham 
radio".   "CW" is an abbreviation for "Continuous Wave telegraphy", the 
oldest form of radio communication used since the days of "Spark" 
wireless communication.  We no longer use "spark" to generate the signals.
Single sideband telephony and other digital forms of communication are 
now used.
