Actually no. Many have genuine university degrees, real "day jobs". Of 
two of Australia's international cricketers I was acquainted with, one 
worked in a bank and the other fellow helped run the family garden 
nursery business.

Up until 30 years ago they were all paid a mere pittance for games 
played and heavily relied upon their employers.
