Wow Sam - have you tried constructing a home made Lecher Line. One for Top band will be really enormous and absolutely accurate (although you have to do the math from the length measured - still: competence is not expected!)
If you want to make one for Microwave bands they would range from quite small to tiny - allowing a pocket version to be constructed.
You could be the envy of all those at FOC.
I leave you to work out the details as they are way beyond me. I read vast amounts of wordage about Ham Radio, but never do any, or understand much of what I read either.
P.S. Anyone though about organising a "Bent Key Night"?
