[SOC] Insidious DHMO

At our very back door is Badger Lake. This beautiful lake is full of
Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO), and there is apparently nothing that can be
done. In just a couple of months, this chemical will begin to soidify
as the weather cools. Every year DHMO forms an insidious crust - often
covering the entire lake. The crust is very dangerous and has killed
several of our neighbors in the past. This summer there were dozens of
unsuspecting sportsmen that caught trout and bass that had been swimming
in DHMO - it is gruesome to even contemplate that most of these doomed
fish were actually taken home and eaten!
Usually in the winter, DHMO precipitates and slowly collects. Sometimes
the deposits become so thick that it must be manually removed - often
resulting in debilitating heart attacks and strokes in the older
population. DMHO restricts the mobility of almost everyone living in
cold climates, and can inundate entire populations- even those in the
tropics. Following the Tsunami in Japan earlier this year, DMHO was the
cause of thousands of deaths.
I fear there is nothing that can be done - we are all at the mercy of
DHMO :-(
