BT comes from Western Union and land line telegraph usage. It means
Begin Text. It is also the symbol = for equals sign.
HR which proceeds a message as in: HR MSG 1 LONDON 23/22 28 1812 =
means "Hand Ready" - get your hand ready to copy the message.
