Yes, it is a BIG deal! 73

It's apparent that Quikhooligan has no concept of WRTC.
He/she also doesn't seem to have a name or callsign.
That could be the reason.
Even SOC's know what WRTC is.

It sure does! I almost took the bait and entered the bidding contest, but
then I

thought I'd investigate this organization a bit further. I'm glad I did.
Here's

a quote from the Poisson d'Avril Contest webpage at
http://poissondavril.webs.com/ :

"The winning bid will be considered a contribution to WRTC2014, and may be
paid
via the Northern California DX Foundation, fundraising partner for
WRTC2014."

They are nothing but shills for WRTG2014! What's WRTG2014? Here's a quote
from
the WRTG2014 webpage at http://wrtc2014.org/ :

"The World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is held every four years and
consists of approximately 50 two-person teams of amateur radio operators
competing in a test of operating skill.

Ah Ha!!! The WRTC is trying to quantify operating skill by testing for it
in
some arbitrary, contrived manner. As if these WRTC organizers are supreme
judges

of what constitutes operating skill! What's next? WRTG dictating how we
should
all operate on the bands according to their ill conceived ideas of
propriety?

I say stop this madness right here and now! Operate according to your own
sense
of propriety. You know you will do so anyway.

Hah!! Operating skill - either you have it or you don't. If you have it, you
know you have it. If you don't have it, you know you don't have it. Testing
for
it serves no good purpose and is just a waste of time.
