No Carlos, for my generation it goes back mainly to our teenage days 
when you went to a show or fair with the usual attractions and a girl on 
your arm.

You would waste a sum of money trying to win a doll for your girlfriend 
and look like a hero. If you did win, the sideshow spruiker [with 
showmanship] would scream out:

"Give that man a Cupie Doll"

And you and your mates thought you were a legend. Huh! 1950's. No 
comment offered on what your girlfriend might have thought or did.
