The original was blocking inboxes in January, 2009 & was about the US $ then.
As you say, it's how commerce works - someone buys a rig from a store, this enables the owner to pay their 90-day credit to their supplier, who then pays the manufacturer, who then pays their suppliers, who pays their employee, who goes out and buys a new rig.
