We're about halfway there where I live. I can load up by vehicle with as much stuff as I want (non-hazardous) and drive down to the transfer station. I get weighed - my vehicle that is - on the way in, then weighed again. It's ten dollars minimum, but easy to do, and they are open every day but Sunday. And that 10 dollars covers a lot of trash, something like a ton or more - I just cant get that much in my vehicle.

For Hazardous stuff though, we're still a little messed up. Too many restrictions, and only one weekend a year. People are SOC, and you have to make it easy for them, or they take bad shortcuts.
