If you are unsure of which gender an adapter is? Are you bound under "Don't ask, Dont tell"?
Is it against law for two connectors of the same gender to be connected together on the same wire?
Are "Gender Changers" frowned upon?
SOC minds want to know..

Back in the 70's I was working on desk sized electronic bookkeeping
machines that had something new call 'data communications' so they
could communicate with main frames. Due to all the cables having male
connectors we had a dual female adapter called a 'lezzie' adapter.
Nobody gave it a second thought that there could be a lesbian adapter!
Years later when all the DB-25 and DB-9 male-male & female-female
adapters came out the naming convention was apparently discontinued!
