Here we go.....

When I was a wee lad, and getting interested in eelectroniky stuff. I
started out with a telegraph key and wound me a solenoid and sounder.
Well, breaking the circuit drew a little spark. Seemed pretty cool from
a 1.5 volt dry cell. Now I was interested. So then I looked in a book,
and saw a transformer, and thought, I can make one of those! So I did.
But it didn't work like I wanted it to. That little solenoid came to the
rescue. I just figured out to use the bar as a breaker. Then I plugged
it all in, and sure enough, I could draw a spark from the transformer. I
could hear it on a table radio - just about anywhere.

Then I put a key on the buzzer output. Added more batteries. Added a
little antenna. It was really awesome. What was great was that I figured
a lot of it out on my own.

Then in true SOC fashion I thought that it would be even better if I
tried plugging it into the wall outlet.

I was grounded for a week.......
