[SOC] You may be a Taliban if...

This whole episode yet again reflects poorly upon some citizens of the
United States and their perceived very narrow views.

I state "narrow views", in as much most Americans sincerely believe
their beliefs and opinions are shared world wide among the western nations.

They are not.

At the moment I believe it quite fair to say that every iota of grief
and goodwill toward the USA as a consequence of 9/11, has been
squandered. This is sad. It is also mad. American credibility has been
nose diving for over nine years now.

Before anyone attempts to refute my comments, just ask yourself what
personal effort do you have personally made to inform yourself about
world affairs beyond your own corporate media brainwashing?

America today, compared to 10 years ago, is not held in very high esteem.

Forget your present President, perhaps in fairness, even your former
President as well.

They are seemingly captive of a system so out of control now, so hell
bent on eternal war because it is so profitable to corporate America, at
the expense of its people, that they are destroying your country. No
politician of any party can seemingly repair this.

How many Americans are on food stamps? How many unemployed? How about a
broken education system? Other problems as well?

America has severe problems. Not so much with your politicians and
government, but because of your own mis-beliefs and your role in the
world. The people themselves.

I say these things for one reason only. Australia's current Ambassador
to the US, Kim Beazley, a man well known for his love of the United
States and its history, a few years ago in parliament, lectured
[correctly] the then Australian Prime Minister for failing to stand by
America in the lead up to Afghanistan and Iraq.

He reasoned, as I do now, if I'm a "fair dinkum mate" then I tell you
where you are going wrong internationally, not domestically. Kim's
allegory was that in 2002, John Howard if he was a "fair dinkum mate",
should have taken President Bush out the back to the pub car park and
given him a slap around and told him to wake up to himself.

That's what genuine friends do, they don't reinforce your preconceived
ideas. They don't allow you to make mug decisions.

As for comments on the Taliban?

Puerile at best. They're simply folks defending their families and their
homeland from unwanted and unwarranted invaders. What would you
personally do in those circumstances? Forget the BS they want to export
their belief systems, they don't. The world is at greater risk of the
exportation of US belief systems, rubbish TV, obsession with the trivial
and obese dietary habits.

Most thinking people in the west fear the consequences of US foreign
policy than from minor obscure groups elsewhere in the world.

Agree or disagree, I don't really care but I do know there are a great
many decent Americans who aren't lured and brain washed by mindless
corporate propaganda. For them I speak out, where others are have fear
to do so. Sadly, over the years I've had enormous "off list" email to
testify to that.

FWIW, YMMV
