Yep. Sir I was not selected to go to the military when I faced the local draft board in the early 70's but I "Served" for 3 part time and then on to 30 years full time as 911 center supervisor with all emergency services and even dispatched Animal control.General Ombudsman for this small county in Ky.
I found out that folks in emergency services are so hard on each other because that is the way they learn to trust each other..
And they get tough sometimes Ha.
I have several old J-38's and a few boat anchors too. Especially my test equipment. HA ..
I apologize to the list curmudgeon who dislike any type of personal discourse. *NOT)
I am forced to agree with a post about 20 or more back.. This REALLY woke up this group...

Well Pete, I would venture to guess my time in the "Corps" (U.S. Marines
for the less knowledgeable), Fire Department and ultimate transfer to law
enforcement 10 years ago would qualify me as being somewhat warped. As such
I believe the SOC moniker fits quite nicely.

I guess what really would take it over the top would be my hanging on to
ancient technology in the form of boat-anchors and hybrids. Using a straight
key and often forgetting where I put the microphone would also be a factor.

And as I am sure you know all to well Pete, practical jokes are what helps
the PD and FD keep their sanity. Very few professions can top our jokes.
