years in-service... it just happened.  

My father was a WWII vet... one of the generation of true heroes.

I served 24 + years in the military, none of which was to protect anyone's
right to be free from being offended.

If you want to be offended, try spending a year away from your family.

If you want to be offended, go play in the sandbox and sleep in a tent (or
worse).

If you want to be offended, try showering in a nasty shower tent in water so
hot or so cold you can't stand it (if you get a shower at all).

If you want to be offended, send some of your best friends home in a
body-bag.

If you're warm and happy in your home, and your pissed because somebody used
the name of the Great Black Hope in a manner intended to produce laughter,
then you REALLY need to reassess your life.
