Ah, not true.  The list owner can go in and change a users settings if
he/she/it so desires.   Some, and I'm one of them on the lists that I "own",
won't do it because then you get too many requests to make changes for the
members.  And probably some of them don't know how, either.
Besides, it's more fun to watch.

And, yes, it is possible to have the list send you your password - even if
you don't know it.  But .... you do have to know your email address.    How
SOC is that?!
