[SOC] Why sharks and humor?

Dear receivers of SOC reflector mailings:
The SOC exists to explore FUNNY THINGS, WEIRD THINGS, OFF BEAT THINGS, WISDOM, AND THE WISDOM IN HUMOR.  Sure, SOC people do and say other things, too, but to be on this reflector is to be OPEN MINDED, to roll with the ways of the world, and not to take oneself too seriously.
 
The SOC is a satire, often, on people and groups who DO take themselves very very seriously, as the SOC name implies.  To read this reflector is to subscribe to these notions and getting upset about "the SOC way" should tell one to unsubscribe and seek more deadly serious reading material.
 
BTW, the very name "Second Class Operators Club" should be abbrev.* "SCOC"  because "Class" is a separate word.... there is no "secondclass" and no "firstclass" without that all important space in the right place.....  so there!    But, of course, it is very SOC to make this error............  
 
That reminds me of LOTW where Log and Book are likely two words and OF and THE are included in the initials, violating the usual practice of doing this kind of thing.  Thus it probably should be LBW or, at the very least, LBOTW.   And, using "world" ...doesnt that imply a very serious taking of itself?   The world is larger than ham radio, which is another SOC idea, probably or maybe or maybe not.............   73
