The FCC has seriously relaxed their stand on this. They had to
I think it was right after former VP Dick Cheney told that congressman to
"Go (bleep) yourself! A few years back. 8^)
Plus IIRC there was an issue with showing "Band of Brothers" and some other
army movies that had a whole lot of profanity in them.
Coupled with Rocker and Philantropist Bono (dunno if he has a second name)
accidentally dropping an F word during an interview.
The FCC had tried to make one size fits all rules and was talking about
fining every individual station for every individual infraction. When some
stations refused to show Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan until they
had assurances they would not be fined for every time someone swore. Then if
there is a difference between that and a movie about a different subject. It
was realized that the FCC was on to a losing battle.
I wonder if the parents Protesting Shatner's show get upset when really old
comic books show people saying things like !@#$%. You know, back in the days
when people still had morals. I remember asking my parents what all those
!@#$% symbols meant.......
Wasn't it Mutt and Jeff that were always !@#$% around and saying *&^%$ to
each other?
