Woven stainless steel pot scrubbers for cleaning my cast-iron cookware.
Everyone now carries the sprial type, what we generally use for cleaning
soldering iron tips, about 1/4 the size of the woven type and they come
apart almost immediately. I used to be able to get the woven ones most
everywhere, most all grocery stores, drug stores, even walmart. I found 12
of them at a CVS pharmacy in los angeles, but don't know what to use after
those are worn out and all the places I've been to or called, even specialty
stores and cleaning suppliers, don't seem to know what I am talking about.
I DID find a machine for sale in china that makes the woven ones...

: No, seriously, what was the product that used to be common for which you
: were searching for that the distributor wouldn't sell you and the dealer
: wouldn't quote price?
