I do not know how many times restrictive laws against firearms has been
appealed to the US Supreme Court, but I content a vast majority of the
rulings have been in favor of a persons right to keep and bear arms. The
latest being striking the firearm ban in Washington DC.

As long as we are on the subject, the authors of the Constitution did not
intend for the 'separation of church and State' to mean the 10 commandments,
or Christmas displays could not be shown/displayed on government buildings
or property.

The amendment was enacted to prevent the government from dictating a "State
religion." The founding fathers primarily came from a country where the
ruling class dictated what faith was to be practiced, and all other
religions were outlawed. If the "spirit" of the constitution was to prevent
religion being referenced by the government, then why does our money have
"In God We Trust" printed on it? Why are people sworn in to testify in
court, or to office with one hand on the bible?

There is a difference in recognizing this country was founded based upon
Christian beliefs, and forcing the population to PRACTICE a mandated State
religion.

There is the letter of the law, and the spirit of the law. The legislature
defines the letter of the law, and the courts define the spirit of the law.
Now it is another story if we agree with the definitions.

If the courts have decided the "spirit" of the law (Constitution) is the
Second Amendment gives the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms,
then I will support it as a right.
