[SOC] Revenge and Terrorism

Revenge is a powerful and pervasive part of the American culture.  It has been ingrained in thousands of movies where

 

the hero's wife is killed which, the movie teaches, gives license to the hero to do anything in revenge, even break the law.  In

 

fact, often break the law.  Bush 2 said on camera in Air Force One just after the 9/11 attacks, "We'll get 'em" in direct application

 

 of revenge (and as tho he had any idea of who "them" really were).  Christianity speaks of a vengeful God admiringly.

 

Revenge is an ulgy part of American culture and the primary factor for motivating soldiers and populations to do what their "better 

 

angels" would never do,  in the land of the free.
