Rich - I hold on to the old "rigs." One never knows when you will have to
repair a newer "rig." You also need to keep several rolls of duct tape on
hand to assist with the repairs.
Now when the cat used it for a litter box, I found adding dirt, or cat
litter improved the quality of the soil the antenna wad is mounted near/on.
As for the beverage, Guinness works well, but the bottle attenuates the
signal more than I prefer. I found a case of (insert favorite beverage) in
cans works best. As you empty the cans, use the roll of duct tape to connect
them. One side benefit is, the cans can also be used for transmit.
