[SOC] Too Many Radios? Never!

I used to fall asleep reading the ads in the back of my 1958 handbook.
Read the ads more than the theory, but did manage to build a preselector
for my S-53A and a rotatable 1 el yagi (it was actually called that)..I still
have my S-53A.

Note the 3rd position to the right on the Collins desks. There is one unit
there with an red/orange S-Meter. A 51S-1 receiver. I have one that belonged
to Art Collins. He had it on his sailboat there on the lake in Cedar Rapids..
Got it back in 1990 from his retired production manager...

This guy should have an E.F.Johnson position with the Desktop KW driven
by a Pacemaker. With an appropriate receiver like a HRO-60..
This makes this an incomplete station, so time to start a new search!
Dang!

Charlie,

The 30S1 is in the next to last picture on his QRZ page down at the right
hand end of the several desks with the beautiful S-lines, 30L1s, and the
KWM380 on it.

The "Desk Kilowatt" was made by Johnson. One was on eBay a while back in new
condition for $10k.

Regarding the "100", I think you are thinking of a Central Electronics 100V.

The only reason I know these things is that when I was first licensed at the
age of 14, I read every issue of QST from 1960 through 1973. These were in
my high school radio club's library. I didn't read much else in those days,
but I got to know a lot about ham radio.

Bob W5OV

And the problem is my age.... I can name about 90% of the ham rigs.... but
where is his floor console S line amp? 30S-1 I think?

And, no Hallicrafter amplifier that included an operaing desk in the
package.

Does he have a Sideband Slicer? The model 100 xmitter with a 2 inch scope
built in, early ssb xmiter, I admit I forgot its full

name, but I had one once. 73,
