There's been several very interesting personal recollections relating to
the Moon landings. It was only one hundred years ago that the English
Channel was crossed by an airplane:

Several events will take place on Saturday to commemorate this first flight
accross the Channel.

The first leg of the Annual UltraLight French Tour will be towards UK
(<http://tourulm2009.air-race.tv/Tour-ULM-2009-Anniversaire-Louis,1.html>
-- French).

On Saturday morning, 04h41 LT (just like one century ago), a RC Bleriot XI
(scale 1/2) will take-off from Sangatte towards Dover.

Early afternoon, Jean-Baptiste Salis (Founder of the Salis Foundation -
<http://www.ajbs.fr/index-uk.php>) will fly from Sangatte towards Dover
using a genuine Bleriot XI (scale 1 this time !, bought in the early
(19)20's by Salis's father -- see <http://www.ajbs.fr/musee-uk.php>)).

During the whole day more than 150 airplanes are expected to cross the
Channel, including the "Patrouille de France"

The full list of events are here (French) :
