I was about 2 months into my 29th year, a Captain in the US Air Force in
Houston TX, assigned to NASA, and working on Apollo. It was "sort of"
exciting. I still have my Apollo 13 Mission Control badge, another nail
biter. Why I don't still have the badges for 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, and 14
is testament to the total absence of common sense my wife tells me I
often exhibit. None of our four kids [38 - 41] can really remember a
time when humans had not visited the moon.
Neil sat down with a couple of us in the cafeteria a few months after
they got back. I told him, "When I look up at the moon at night,
sometimes I don't believe you and Buzz were there." He replied,
"Sometimes, neither do I."
