If I remember correctly yes you can. Heck I had to think for a minute. Watch somebody say no. But the math says yes.

Subject: [SOC] A Real SOC question
Where else can a guy go for a question like this but the SOC list!
I've decided to try a build an SLA charger from the May 2001 issue of QST.
I ordered and received the PC board from Far Circuits and I'm gathering the
various parts for the charger.
I have two questions:
Here's my first question -- In looking at the PC board I notice that there
are no labels for the parts. Just holes and traces. So( he asks somewhat
embarrassedly) is this normal? Do I need to figure out from the QST
schematic what goes where? Or is there a secret only First Class Ops know
about?
Here's my second question, which I think I understand. --- the schematic
calls for a 1K 1 watt resistor. Can I use two 2K 1/2 watt resistors in
parallel? (I think so, right?)
Thanks for your help,
(this is going to be some project :) )
Tom
