A friend is in the Army Staff College and went on a high-level tour 
of the Gettysburg battlefield last week. The tour is led by a group 
of Army colonels, with a staff that moves briefing boards and battle 
maps from site to site. There are always a few tourists who attach 
themselves to the group, and one of them asked a colonel if all those 
monuments got in the way of the troops during the battle.
