[SOC] Need source for Motorola MC4016P IC

Good Day All,

One can still purchase the "4000" series 14-pin dip ICs, under different manufacturers names. They are all one in the same chip.

Taking a quick look at the "Digi-Key" catalog, I find two such IC's which are both 16 cents each. Now that is SOC pricing!! First a warning: the 4000 series integrated circuits are "CMOS" and sensitive to static .... handle with care. If you do not have a Digi-Key catalog, check their web site at:
digikey.com

They have, in stock, -
Texas Instruments CD4016BE 61cents (CDN price)

Fairchild CD4016BCN-ND 61cents (CDN price)

I get the Kanuk version of the Digi-Key catalog here in the "Great White North - Eh". Still, the prices will be fairly close .... nickel & dime stuff.

If one checks around in other fairly large electronic component shops, no doubt they will have what you are looking for. The Motorola brand may be discontinued, but the others live on. They are out there so all is not lost ... just look around. Do a Google search on the CD4016 chip and see what you come up with. Don't go to E-Bay ... they will want to "scalp" you for the cost of the chip.

Hope this helps.

Although, some folk have other opinions! ;-)
