[SOC] Thought Screen Helmets

Some time back, we had a discussion of thought screen helmets, which some of us wear to prevent space aliens from reading our thoughts. Someone advised that one can fashion a helmet from aluminum foil. This is certainly an SOC (i.e., cheap) solution, but is it really effective? Here is a site that has plans for an allegedly truly effective thought screen helmet, the materials for which can be had for around $35:
