Not that the English, speaking English, aren't capable of some really funny
bon mots - a pal of mine went to a curry house in Devon (Brixham, to be
exact) to get some lunch. Before him in the line was a young lady who was
waxing rhapsodic at the swarthy young lad behind the counter about how she
just loved Greek men, how wonderful they were, etc. The young immigrant
said, in accented English, "I am from Turkey."  She replied, "You're never
from Torquay!"

Let's not go on about Fotheringay or Pontefract, shall we? ;-)
