many moon ago when I was in tech College, I struggled with imaginary 
numbers. I hated them and could never understand them.

One day, our tutor was handing back homework he'd marked.

I, as usual was the bottom of the pile.

"A, Mr Warburton," said my tutor, "Your answer, 1 million 4 hundred 
thousand and 7... The correct answer was 58... Tell me young Mr 
Warburton, How did you come by your answer?"
I replied "Mr Howels, the homework was a puzzle in imaginary numbers... 
So I imagined a number"

I thought that I might as well think of a number as try and work the 
answer out... I still have no idea how to do imaginary numbers. The 
square root of -1 is something I can quite happily live my life without :)
