Damn, Ian, I thought you were asking questions of the horses!

Interesting question in US as well.  When I was a kid, poppies were
universal and I recall significant sales on the 10th in preparation for
Poppy Day - as some called it.  Very rarely seen today except where local
American Legion hands out, but Nov 11 has morphed into Veteran's Day, a
national holiday.  I can remember marching is some significant Armistice Day
parades in late 50s, early 60s, but haven't seen much once the name changed.
We have nothing that compares with ANZAC Day parade.
