[SOC] rare spot

Ah, Canadia!

I took the Canadian National Railway from Montreal to Vancouver once in the
60's and discovered that (SOC of me) it went through all the interesting
places in the middle of the night (lake country in Ontario, the Fraser River
Gorge in BC, etc.). I remember waking up the second morning as we were
entering Saskatoon over a bridge that had clearly been the victim of a
significant fire. I don't remember if there was another train 12 hours out
of sync with this one, but if I ever do it again, I'll take it (or the other
train company ? ? that runs somewhat farther north?). But it is VE5's I
always seem to catch late in an international contest who come right back to
me when the rest of North America can't or won't. Ciao, 73 Jan N0AAA 389
