Here in the KC area (and in Denver) there's a Swiss bakery called
Andre's that does a marvelous job with French bread and, of course,
CHOCOLATE!!!!!

     and the standard issue bread is awful too, sticks to the
     roof of your mouth for hours.  How this happened I dunno,
     when the immigrants came from countries that know how to
     bake bread.

     Fortunately we can buy "Texas French Bread", and you can
     find the decent stuff here, but you have to look around
     for it.
