Let's face it.
At the end of the day we all get the government we deserve.
The crappier your government is: the more the onus is upon the people to do
something about it...whether it be by the ballot box, the bomb or the
Kalazhnikov. If you haven't got the guts to change it...then you just have
to live with it.
The Iraqis had the government that they deserved, in the shape of the Sadam
regime. They didn't have the guts to do anything about it, so they were
stuck with it.
We are not going to create a new Camelot in Iraq. In 20 years time - no
matter what we do - Iraq will return to an islamic hell-hole ruled by a
despot...it's their nature.
I have changed my views on Iraq. I now believe that the entire country is
not worth the life of one more allied serviceman.
Although I still believe that we were right to go in and kick some ass, the
Iraqis show no sign of being able to help themselves. We should leave Iraq
now, and go back in ten years to make a deal, and buy oil from whatever scum
rises to the top by natural selection. In the meantime keep a close watch
on the place by satellite, and destroy anything we don't like to look of
without warning.
Enough allied soldiers have died, now it's the law of diminishing returns.
