Agreed.

Obviously the 'old world' is going to throw money at this, because
historically it's 'our' neck of the woods.  But no amount of aid is going to
do any good if it can't  get to where it's needed.

Enter the logistical superpower...good ole Uncle Sam (or bad old Uncle
Sam...depending on your prejudices).

Politics apart...many lives will be saved, and it's churlish to make cheap
points.

If I was in their situation, I wouldn't care if the aid arrived in a lorry
driven by Satan himself.
