The record goes, I think, to Brian Lara of the West Indies with something
over 400.
England's Graham Gooch famously managed 333.
Keep in mind that a test match lasts for up to five *days*. Puts the scores
in to some perspective.
Sir Gary Sobers hit poor Malcolm Nash for six sixes in one over in 1968
(that's just six deliveries).
I watched Ian Botham win a county match by hitting 24 (I think) on the last
over.
P
p.s. One run amounts to 22 yards. You get four if the ball runs to the
boundary and six if it goes over the boundary without bouncing first.
