Our Field Day team was set up on a high hill not too far from my QTH last year
and the contest had just started when a spitfire flew over.
Instantly the tent emptied out as everybody (except me who was operating) rushed
outside to see a splendid flying display from the Spit, which lasted almost ten
minutes. There are several RAF aerodromes locally, so I guess that something was
going on because I am sure he was not doing it just for us!
This year FD was over the D-Day weekend and on Saturday afternoon (the 5th), a
Spit, a Hurri and an unidentified plane flew over a few times in formation. It
could easily have been a Typhoon.
