[SOC] rant

I tend to be awake throughout the night and listen to the BBC World service
over the net.

I was awaiting the 3 am news and all of a sudden the stream stopped and
simply repeated a message that they were unable to deliver to the audio
stream due to "contract conditions" or sum such.

I fired up two separate HF receivers and received readable signals on two
bands. With appropriate propogation conditions, you'll get it world wide.
Isn't that what it's for?

The thing that really drives me bonkers is that I have a cheap $10
transistor radiio that works on 198 kHz.. Perfect signal and I've used it to
listen to "Test Match Special" (that's cricket for those sadly deprived) up
to a thousand miles away in various locations in Europe.

The world is bloody barmy.

Paul :-(

p.s. Hope the back is improving Ian.
