[SOC] Hiccups/Hicoughs

Hi All,

Completely off-topic but I'm puzzled.

Any doctors on the list?

I suffered a bout of hiccups/hiccoughs this afternoon that lasted about an
hour.

I resorted to a remedy that my uncle gave me years ago: Drink a glass of
water from the opposite edge of the glass. I.e. take a small glass of water,
bend over and drink whilst pouring the water into your mouth from that edge.

Works every time.

Why?
