And sadly, all of these things have had their mirror in most
all other races and cultures. For example, war, genicide, and
slavery were alive and tragic here in north america before any
of the europeans arrived. (Again, not to condone the awful things
done.) The same is true in India, China, Africa, etc., to name a 
few.

Again, while it seems to have gotten lost, I would recommend you
read Jacques Barzun's "From dawn to Decadance" where "The triumphs 
and defeats of five hundred years form an inspiring saga that modifies 
the current impression of one long tale of opression by white european males...." (from the forward by William Safire)
