Ian, trust me.  We Yanks almost live for our air conditioning during the
summer months.  Around my part of the country, we get highs during July
and August that are above 40 Celsius fairly regularly along with
humidity in the 80% range.  It gets so hot you can literally fry an egg
on the hood (bonnet) of your car.  You think the Brits sweat?  You ain't
seen NUTHIN!=20

A fortnight later, I arrived on my own, they were in Ireland and I
sweltered in
London, rail lines buckled. Unbelievable unless you consider the UK and
possibly Europe and North America have no provision for heat.
