How about a dedicated professional who has a grasp of priorities for the
community and the ability to "lead" people out of a fiscal mire with a clear
long term plan in which people accept reality and are prepared for financial
pain.
California's financial problems just won't go away. Remember it is claimed
California is the world's 6th biggest economy.
The solution will involve higher taxes, will involve cuts. From what I've read,
the issue seems to be priorities. I find bigger, better jails at the expense of
education and health to be very curious to say the least. A superior penal
system isn't the epitome of an advanced society.
In my experience 80+% of politicians are fair dinkum. Their hardest problem is
marrying different issues from different parts of the electorate, a juggling
act. What's a burning issue in one part of a state is all too often a non event
elsewhere and vice versa.
To summarise Australian comment on morning Radio and TV, also elsewhere I
suspect.
"An extremely mind boggling result"
