This thread reminds me of a post I made some time ago. I don't think it was
on SOC but if so, apologies.

This was at the height of the Clinton/Lewinsky 'affair'.

John Cleese was being interviewed on a US TV chat show somewhere and was
posed the question, "So just what do you think are the main differences
between the Americans and the British?".

Cleese replied, "Well, first of all we speak English and you don't. Secondly
when we have a World Championship in a sport we invite other countries to
compete. And finally, in the UK when introduced to the head of state it's
customary to go down onto just the one knee."
