Gerry Mulligan just made magic with the baritone sax... (and tenor)
Listen to his version of "Laura" and "The nearness of you"
Nothing finer !
course, he had lots of good help on that recording... truly fine...
The Firehouse Five + 2 were pretty good, I would have to rummage but I think
I have an EP (remember those) with 4 of their numbers....
