[SOC] Back again...

Well I'm back on-line having relocated to the garage. It's only two years
since I 'temporarily' set up a bench in the bedroom until I could get the
garage sorted after moving house.

I spent a *really* frustrating three hours last night trying to debug the
network hookup to the garage. Two more lengths of CAT5 back to the patch
panel under the stairs. Didn't work. Pressed Ellie (eldest) into holding one
probe of the meter whilst I bussed out the connections. The first attempt
was back to front (brown is on the *LEFT*), the second had one open circuit
way but the third attempt bussed out Ok. I plugged the machine in but
couldn't ping the router. Bussed it out again (just in case) and all ok.
Tried to ping again - no joy.

I then went and watched the news for a couple of hours (depressing) before
falling asleep on the sofa.

Woke up at seven and tried the machine again. Nothing. I wandered into the
kitchen to make a cup of coffee and tripped over the PC power cable which
unsuprisingly switched it off. Two minutes later after it had re-booted and
I had my coffee it connected to the network first time.

When all else fails, cycle the power.
