Paul. Please don't think that I do not respect your views. I have quite a
strong pacifist streak myself (having been involved in one skirmish, albeit
in a very small way). If I thought that this war was going to take on a
similar look to Vietnam, (complete with Mi-Li massacre, agent orange and
little napalm-scorched girls) I would myself oppose it too. I just think
that this is going to be a short, sharp campaign.
Words of peace are fine, but they only work when used among men of peace.
Saddam Hussein is not such a man. He sees himself as 'the Arab Hitler'. He
only recognises one language. He speaks to his own people in this same
language.
Iraq belongs to the UN, and has a right to abide by its decisions (although
I am fully aware that this also applies to Israel, so there is scope for
hypocrisy).

For the record, Tony Blair does not wield the Royal Prerogative (hope that's
right), he has to obtain it from the sovereign face-to-face. She has the
constitutional right to question, and as a last resort withhold it if she
remains unconvinced.

Paul Said>>>The legal niceties satisfy the "right" that the dots and the
"I's" have been
attended to. Britain wasn't involved in Vietnam and while protesting,
weren't
torn apart by bitter divisions.

Paul, you haven't lived through it, I have. Before in the Vietnam era it was
mild in comparison, now...<<<<
