I rang my usual ham store to check that they had my chosen morse key in
stock before I set-off for London.
The shop said that not only was it out of stock, but also that 'common or
garden' morse keys are like rocking-horse doodoo at the moment!.

According to him:
1. The manufacturer, falling for the 'morse is dead' myth, has reduced
production runs and stock levels.
2. Many of the more pompous 'old guard' in Britain have started to return to
CW, rather than share SSB bandspace with the dreaded new novices.
3. Then the British Army suddenly cleaned-out their stock of high-action
lightweight
Hi-Mounds (to the tune of 100 keys) and sent them all out to the Gulf!.

Strange days indeed.
